Research focus
The group's test is which tasks the system truly finishes and which still need staff follow-up. Trase's own Duke numbers are specific enough to check: it says fax triage ran 7.1 times faster, returned 1,395 staff hours a month, and moved accuracy from roughly 70 percent to 98.1 percent. Ask what the remaining 1.9 percent looks like and who catches it. Trase also sells into defence and other regulated industries, so ask how much of the engineering roadmap is healthcare.

Trase announced a 107 million dollar seed round on 25 June 2026, led by ARCH Venture Partners with Red Cell Partners taking part, and said the money is for expanding its sales team and building out Trase Origin. No change of control was announced. Checked on 2026-10-10.

Trase says its fax agent cleared a Monday backlog at Duke Health's cardiology division

Trase said on 25 June 2026 that it turned on a fax routing agent in Duke Health's Division of Cardiology on a Monday morning in mid-April, with more than 800 faxes waiting, and that the agent had done almost all of them by the end of the day. The company says the division receives 5,000 faxes a month, that inbound fax triage ran 7.1 times faster, that 1,395 hours a month were returned to clinical staff, and that accuracy went from roughly 70 percent before the agent to 98.1 percent after it. Trase says it worked with Dr Manesh Patel, chief of the division, to pick the task, and that more agents are planned for heart failure, hypertension and high cholesterol follow-up.

Why it matters: The honest part of this story is the starting point: hand sorting was running at roughly 70 percent accuracy, so the comparison is not AI against a careful human but AI against a tired one on a Monday. That is where this kind of automation earns its money, and it is also why the benchmark should be audited rather than taken from the vendor. A 98.1 percent routing accuracy still means about 95 misrouted faxes a month at this volume, and a clinic needs a named person to catch those. The chronic condition agents Trase says are next are a much larger step, because follow-up on heart failure is closer to clinical work than sorting paper.

Trase raises 107 million dollars for AI agents in healthcare and other regulated work

Trase said on 25 June 2026 that it raised a 107 million dollar seed round led by ARCH Venture Partners, with Red Cell Partners taking part, and that it will use the money to expand its sales team and keep building Trase Origin, its agent operating system. The release quotes Dr Manesh Patel, chief of the Division of Cardiology at Duke Health, saying the team used to arrive on Monday mornings to hundreds of faxes waiting to be routed and that the Trase agent processed the lion's share of them by the end of the day. The release reports the Duke fax agent running 7.1 times faster than manual processing, saving 1,395 staff hours a month and unlocking 285,450 dollars a year of staff capacity.

Why it matters: Money this early usually buys a sales team before it buys a support team, and the release says the sales team is exactly what it is for. A health system signing now should ask who answers the phone when an agent breaks, because that is the function a growth round tends to fund last. Trase also sells into defence and other regulated industries, so healthcare is one vertical competing for the same engineers, and the 285,450 dollar figure is one division at one hospital rather than a rate card.

Careers and Qualifications

What to Know Before Applying

Work areas: The careers page lists engineering roles in platform infrastructure and execution, product roles including a technical programme manager for healthcare, and enterprise sales, based in Seattle, McLean in Virginia, Washington D.C. or remote in the United States.

Qualification signal: The product lives or dies on getting an AI agent approved to run inside a hospital's systems, so compliance and integration experience counts more than model work. A named healthcare programme role on the engineering side is the signal that this is a real vertical rather than a slide.

Check current roles at Trase. A careers page is the source of record for openings. This profile does not claim a role is open unless the company lists it now.

Buyer Snapshot

Best-fit buyer
Chief clinical officer, chief nursing officer, hospital operations, perioperative leadership, patient flow, finance, and clinical informatics
Primary use case
Coordinate hospital work and automate time-sensitive steps across inpatient, perioperative, and care-management teams
Typical deployment
Enterprise software connected to the EHR, scheduling, staffing, and operational data, usually introduced one workflow at a time

Evidence questions

  • Were results measured against a comparable hospital baseline and over enough time to survive seasonal changes?
  • Does the reported return include staff time, implementation work, and the cases the automation could not finish?
  • Which patient, capacity, or financial result changed rather than only clicks or alerts?

Regulatory and workflow questions

  • Which recommendations can change care and who remains responsible for acting or declining?
  • How are urgent conditions, missing data, and conflicting orders escalated?
  • What monitoring can pause a workflow when performance changes?

Data and contract questions

  • Which EHR, scheduling, staffing, and claims data leave the health system?
  • Can the organization inspect the source used for each automated action?
  • What happens to local workflow data when the contract ends?

No clearance is linked in this directory. That is not automatically a mark against the company. Some products support the people doing the work instead of reading a patient image or signal themselves.
