Sutter Health's numbers travel a long way in vendor marketing, so check what was actually measured. A satisfaction figure is how clinicians felt, which is a real thing but not the same as whether the notes were right. Ask who at Sutter counted it, over how long, and across how many of its 21 hospitals, because a result from a few clinics is not a result from a system this size. Its own newsroom publishes AI stories separately from vendor announcements, and the two do not always say the same thing.

The Sutter Health about page, read on 2026-10-31, calls it a not for profit health system based in Sacramento, California, serving more than 3.5 million residents, with 21 hospitals, more than 14,500 physicians and advanced practice clinicians, and 45 new locations opened since 2023. The same page says it put 1.2 billion dollars into community care and programmes and 350 million dollars into new clinical technology. No parent or owner is named. Checked on 2026-10-31.

A MaineHealth family doctor says Abridge Assistant saves her about 30 minutes a day

Abridge published an interview on 18 October 2026 with Dr Jessica Faraci, a family medicine physician at MaineHealth, about her use of Abridge Assistant. She says the tool saves her about 30 minutes a day and that medical history letters now take three to five minutes to finish. The piece also names Abridge products it calls Assistant for Clinicians, the Assistant Prompt Library and Care Signals, and cites a Sutter Health case study in which 78 percent of clinicians reported improved work satisfaction. It is an Abridge blog interview rather than a study, and it reports the experience of one physician.

Why it matters: One named doctor describing her own day is worth more than it looks, because she can be asked about it later and a vendor average cannot. Thirty minutes a day is also a believable number rather than an impressive one, which is a point in its favour. What it is not is evidence. One family medicine physician at one health system tells you nothing about how the tool behaves in a busy emergency department or on a complicated specialty visit, and nobody reports whether the notes and letters were accurate. The Sutter Health figure is about how clinicians felt, and satisfaction can rise while note quality falls. Read this as a reference call that happens to be published.

Twelve health systems form a diagnostic AI consortium with Aidoc

Aidoc announced on August 11, 2026 a Diagnostic AI Consortium with twelve US health systems: Advocate Health, Cedars-Sinai Health System, Hartford Healthcare, Houston Methodist, Mercy, Mount Sinai Health System, Northwell Health, Northwestern Medicine, Sutter Health, University of Florida Health, University Hospitals of Cleveland and WellSpan Health. Aidoc says the members will co-design AI-assisted diagnostic workflows, measure the effect on safety, quality and speed to diagnosis, and write shared rules for how the tools are governed. The company says its products run in nearly 2,000 hospitals, analyze 60 million patient cases a year, and that first results are expected in 2027.

Why it matters: Imaging AI is usually sold with one hospital's numbers attached, so a twelve-system plan to measure it is unusual and worth following. The value depends on whether the members publish results that reflect badly on the tools as well as results that flatter them. Until 2027 there is nothing to read, so today this is a promise to measure rather than a finding.

Careers and Qualifications

What to Know Before Applying

Work areas: The careers site is an employer brand page rather than a role list. It says Sutter Health has urban, rural and suburban facilities throughout California, and names benefits and career development programmes. To see disciplines and teams you have to open its job search.

Qualification signal: A system with 21 hospitals and 45 new locations since 2023 is hiring for growth, so the useful experience is opening a site rather than running a steady one. For clinical AI roles, the signal is having measured a tool after it went live, because that is what Sutter publishes and what it will ask you to defend.

Check current roles at Sutter Health. A careers page is the source of record for openings. This profile does not claim a role is open unless the company lists it now.

Buyer Snapshot

Best-fit buyer
Health system leaders, informatics teams, patient access and operations leads, and clinicians comparing notes with peer organizations
Primary use case
Deploy healthcare AI inside a care delivery organization and report what it changed
Typical deployment
Care delivery organization. AI usually arrives through the records system vendor or a direct vendor contract.

Evidence questions

  • Who at the health system counted the result, and over what stretch of time?
  • How many sites and how many staff were included, and was the rest of the system different?
  • Did the saved work disappear, or move to another team?

Regulatory and workflow questions

  • Which AI tools here touch a care decision, and which only handle paperwork?
  • Who signs off that a tool is safe to leave running on live patient data?
  • What is the published review process when a tool gets something wrong?

Data and contract questions

  • Which patient data leave the organization to reach the vendor, and how long are they kept?
  • Can the organization see and export the records the AI tool created?
  • Who is told when a vendor changes the model behind a tool already in use?

FDA Clearances on Record

No clearance is linked in this directory. That is not automatically a mark against the company. Some products support the people doing the work instead of reading a patient image or signal themselves.
