AI Governance (Healthcare)

The standing process a healthcare organization uses to decide which AI tools it approves, on what evidence, who owns each tool after deployment, and what triggers turning it off.
AI governance in healthcare is an operating process rather than a policy document. A working framework covers four decisions: how a tool enters review, what evidence is required at a level scaled to how much the tool influences clinical decisions, which named individual is accountable for it after go-live, and what specific conditions trigger pausing or retiring it. Voluntary reference frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and materials from the Coalition for Health AI supply structure and shared vocabulary, but they sit above a non-optional regulatory floor and do not by themselves answer any of those four questions for a specific organization.
